What a three days in Screggan for the National Ploughing Championships!!! Thankfully the rain didn’t dampen the spirits despite it’s best efforts on the Wednesday.
The ‘Dream Team’ comprising of Jason Flanagan, Mark Woods and Thomas McCarthy were on site for the three days. Support acts throughout the week included Tony Crinion, Martin O’Donovan, Robbie Fitzpatrick and Sinead Holt.
There was a great mix of visitors to our stand this year – from the many children looking for pens to the teenagers on the hunt for the ‘must-have’ sunglasses or ponchos. Our ponchos proved very helpful when the skies opened on Wednesday and the crowds were decked out in ‘Abbey Seals’ orange. And as if to apologise for creating such a commotion the day before, it was clear blue skies for the last day of the event. To say we gave away thousands of sunglasses is no exaggeration, they proved extremely popular with all ages and even managed to feature on Ploughing Live on RTE One!
There were, of course, an abundance of curious passers-by too who were looking for extrusions for their tractor cab or a hydraulic seal for their ram and we were happy to show them our range of both items.
Meeting potential customers is one of the joys of being at the Ploughing – we’re always happy to chat to a captive audience about the wide range of products we sell, our extensive stock holding and our manufacturing capabilities. Plus with videos playing on a loop on the tv showing parts being machined in Cork, customers can get a feel for our level of expertise and the speed at which we turnaround their orders.
What would an event be without some bargains on offer too – special ‘show’ prices on our O-ring kits and seal tools meant there were some very happy people who scooped up a great deal.
Overall it was a successful couple of days with a third visit to Screggan on the books for 2018.
